It Could Happen To You

This morning was a hectic one. My 26 week Ob appointment was at 9:00am so that meant setting my alarm for the first time in a long time. I had to be up and ready by 7:30am and have Rhett up and ready by 7:45am. When the buzzer sounded I jumped up and immediately went through the usual ritual of getting myself dressed. In my groggy, half awake state I opted out of the cotton dress I had laid out the night before and reached for an even more comfortable black cotton skit, tube top, and black hoodie from a pile of clean laundry. It offered the perfect level of comfort while still providing a touch of style and a hip mom vibe. Realizing now that my decision to change clothes had put me behind schedule, I ran into Rhett's room to wake him up. I snatched him up from bed, threw on his clothes, slicked some gel in his hair and off we went to the car. Backing out of the driveway my car's clock read 7:55am. I hate being late and my heart was racing. I sat back in the seat and tried to relax. Leaning back I noticed something felt strange. Trying to make up time on the road was pointless. I got stuck behind ever slow driver and cement truck from here to Austin. Something about my hoodie was still making me uncomfortable and I made a quick mental note to check it out the first chance I got. The clock now read 8:15am and I was just getting onto the freeway. My nerves were still unsettled as I anticipated the bumper to bumper traffic that I was going to have to maneuver through to make it to my appointment on time. After 10 minutes of moving at a snails pace, I started to pick up some speed. It was 8:40am and we were nearly there. I even had time to make a quick stop for kolaches. As we pulled into the parking lot the clock read 8:50am. Perfect. I loaded Rhett, the kolaches, books, toys and water into the stroller and started up to the office. Then, my mental note reappeared and I reached back to fix my hoodie. I was sure it was just bunched up or fliped inside out. When I felt around, I discovered that I had been toting around a not so stylish accessory. I couldn't contain my laughter as I pulled out a pair of underware hiding inside. It was then that I realized my days of being hip were probably over.
