For a while now, I've been threatening to get rid of Rhett's pacifiers. Several have been thrown away and ends have been cut, but Rhett's addiction to the paci is worse than ever. It is his comfort item and he loves it. For that reason, I've had a hard time taking it away for good. The paci seems to possess magical properties. It can calm him down in seconds, put him to sleep with ease, and heal bumps and bruises in an instant. It puts a smile on his face. With all the good that a paci brings, I often wonder why I let the paci debate influence my decision to let Rhett be happy. It is such a simple solution that seems to bring him so much joy. In fact, maybe we could all use a little suck now and then.
