Leave It To Us

Today, on our way home from Houston, I started thinking about our family and how much we had in common with the All-American Cleaver family of the 50's and 60's. We keep our house neat and tidy. We have a well maintained lawn. I'm a stay at home mom who loves to bake. Rhett always cleans up his toys... The list of similarities seemed to go on and on.

During our drive home, we passed by field after field of bluebonnets so I decided it would be nice to do what the Cleavers would on a sunny Sunday afternoon in early spring. We pulled off the road, loaded up Rhett and the camera and decided to take some pictures. After a quick photo session with our beautiful baby sitting on a blanket of flowers, we got back in the car and continued on our way.

As I scouted for a frame-worthy picture amung the bunch, it occured to me that the Strauss family and the Cleavers might not be so similar after all. The rest of the five hour trek home was spent consoling Rhett, eating lunch in the car, crying, yelling, spilling water, getting calf cramps from not having enough leg room, and being very un-Cleaverly.
